MacWhirter Youth league - Afan lido 6-0 Haverfordwest county

Even without Carl Payne, Jonathan Hood and Matthew Beynon the under 19's still recorded a comfortable win over Haverfordwest. There were first goals at this level for Callum Fleming and Levi Coakes who both left the substitutes bench to score.
We took the lead in three minutes when James McEvoy crossed to the near post and Conor Harris scored with a left footed shot from 5 yards. Haverfordwest's first visit to Lido territory was from a free kick but it was hit too long and went through to Connah Williams in goal. Ellis Harris had a chance to make it 2-0 after 12 minutes but from the edge of the area he shot straight at the keeper. The second wasn't long in coming as two minutes later Grant Fisher picked up a loose ball thirty five yards out and was unchallenged as he made ground into the Haverfordwest half, he then played the ball to Remi Whitelock who with his trusty left peg fired past the keeper from the edge of the box. Within minutes we almost gifted the visitors a goal when Connah Williams failed to hold a free kick but Andrew Collins got back to head the ball clear. On 26 minutes we went three up, building confidently from the back we found Ellis Harris in a deep position, he swept the ball wide to Niall Lewis who made ground and crossed low to the far post where Remi Whitelock tapped in his second. Haverfordwest had a second chance to reduce the arrears when they were free in the area but firstly Connah Williams did well to dive at the forward's feet and block his effort then Grant Fisher twice blocked the follow up, turning the second effort behind for a corner. The nearest to either side scoring after this was a Haverfordwest free kick which from a good position in front of goal sailed harmlessly over the bar.
From the second half kick off Remi Whitelock had a chance for a hat trick but shot wide from just inside the area. Andrew Collins took a long throw into the area, Niall Lewis touched the ball on but the keeper managed to hold the ball to his left. Somehow Haverfordwest again failed to score on 55 minutes when the ball was crossed into the area and they shot against the post, again we cleared the rebound. We responded by playing the ball forward to Ellis Harris but from just inside the area his attempted lob of the keeper went over the crossbar. On 70 minutes it was 4-0, we won a free kick 30 yards out which hit a defender and went for a corner. Niall Lewis played the ball to the near post where it hit the defender and went just inside the post. Conor and Ellis Harris combined well and Ellis cut inside and shot, the keeper did well to turn it behind for a corner. With a quarter of an hour to go it was 5-0 when Remi Whitelock wide left made ground, cut in and crossed the ball over the keeper for Callum Fleming to head in from a couple of yards. Haverfordwest then won a corner and Andrew Collins was in the right place to head the ball off the line then with 6 minutes to go Remi Whitelock set up Conor Harris but with his weaker right foot he shot wide. With a minute to go we made it 6-0 when from a free kick which bobbled about in the area, Levi Coakes turned a left footed shot past the keeper.
