On a gluepot of a pitch good play was almost impossible but the players stuck to their task to record a comfortable win. There was disappointment for Shaun Best on his return when he was badly fouled and after lengthy treatment went to hospital for an X ray.
An early through ball from Adam Beynon found Mark Jones who fed Daniel Thomas wide right but his shot lacked power and was at the keeper. Josh Cokeley won the ball in the middle of the park and fed Shaun Morgan, he swept it wide to Dan Thomas and he shot just wide from the edge of the area. On 19 minutes a James McEvoy cross was headed over by Shaun Morgan, three minutes later if anyone other than Ali Walkley was the last man we'd have been one up. Damon Thomas knocked the ball wide for Adam Beynon whose cross into the 6 yard box was perfect but unfortunately slightly too high for Ali to reach with an open goal in front of him. That was the last action for the Ferry keeper as he was injured in a 50-50 challenge with Shaun Morgan and had to leave the field. Former Lido player Ross Howell took over in goal and his first involvement was to pick the ball out of the net. Mark Jones received the ball just outside the area and turned and shot low into the bottom corner giving Howell no chance. We went two up in added on time when James McEvoy played the ball to Mark Jones who chested the ball down and scored with a right footed shot from the edge of the area.
Debutant Dean Hudson played the ball forward to Shaun Morgan who was too strong for the Ferry defence, he got into the box and played it to Mark Jones who beat Ross Howell with a shot just inside the far post. Ferry were now deflated and only a bobble beat Dan Thomas when in a good position. On the hour Gareth Couch saved low to his left and conceded a corner which he comfortably held. James McEvoy won the ball in midfield and played it forward for Dan Thomas who left the defence in his wake to score with ease. Shaun Best was now injured and down for several minutes, Vince Lewis replaced him but when the free kick was taken from the right side of the pitch it was an unmarked Ally Walkley who HEADED the ball in to make it 5-0. With a quarter of an hour to go Vince Lewis should have made it six when he was played in just inside the 6 yard box. Daniel Thomas again made ground and found Mark Jones in the area but this time Ross Howell came out to block his effort. From a Lido corner Dan Thomas received the ball and his shot was deflected for another corner which Adam Beynon headed wide. There was still time for Damon Thomas to hit the crossbar with a twenty five yard free kick before the ref called a halt.
