dinas powys 1-1 AFAN LIDO

Nathan White rescued a point with goal in the first minute of added on time. Again we stuttered and spent too much time arguing with anyone who would listen instead of getting the job done and picking up 3 points against a poor side who had little to offer but honest endeavour.
After an early period of Dinas Powys pressure Carl Payne brought the ball out of defence and found Scott McCoubrey who won a throw on the left hand side which Dinas Powys cleared. A Lido throw in line with the 18 yard line found Scott McCoubrey he played it through to Nathan White but he was offside. We won a corner right side after a Carl Payne cross was cut out but not for the only time in the game we failed to beat the first defender with the cross. Gavin Jones was in space on the right and made ground, cut inside but he found himself surrounded by three defenders. Mike Lewis kicked the ball out and found Mark Jones on the edge of the Dinas Powys area, Mark's first time shot went just wide of the post. From a Dinas Powys free kick Mark Jones headed it out to Damon Thomas who knocked it forward to Nathan White, Nathan made ground and shot from 25 yards, again just wide. On the half hour Carl Payne found Mark Jones who was fouled 22 yards out to the right of the goal as we looked at it. Scott McCoubrey took the kick, lifted it over the wall but wide of goal. Scott then tried to do too much down the left side and lost the ball, Dinas attacked down the right and Jonathan Hood did well to head the ball over the bar for a corner with a couple of attackers on his back. We conceded a couple of free kicks allowing Dinas Powys a free header in the box but from a couple of yards they headed it wide. We didn't heed the warning and on 42 minutes they scored, it followed an attack of ours where Mark Jones headed a Gavin Jones cross into the keeper's arms. He knocked it downfield and Gavin contested the ball with an attacker wide left, the ball was crossed in and Mark Dunford had a free header from 8 yards and he surprised everyone by scoring. We kicked off and from a Jonathan Hood free kick Carl Payne forced a fine save out of keeper Peter Blaine who dived low to his left to save.
Robbie Walters replaced Gavin Jones at half time and he was given offside from a Scott McCoubrey cross from the kick off, then Mark Jones and Robbie were given offside when the followed the ball into the box. Jonathan Hood took a free kick and found Robbie Walters 12 yards out but his header went just wide. Chris Pridham was fouled in the centre circle but the ref didn't award us a free kick so Dinas Powys attacked and despite only having Mike Lewis to beat the attacker shot wide. It was an expensive miss as in the first minute of added on time Nathan White latched on to the ball just outside the area and rifled in a right footed shot giving the keeper no chance. The later stages of the game was littered with free kicks and numerous stop-start periods. So much that we actually played 8 minutes of added on time at the end. In that period we pushed forward but just couldn't get a winner. Credit to both Luke Borrelli and Remi Whitelock in this period, they both took corners which caused problems for Dinas Powys unlike our earlier efforts.
