Afan Lido 0-6 Llanelli

Quite a large crowd turned up hoping to see the top two teams produce some quality football on a great night for football. Sadly someone didn't tell our lads as we didn't turn up and were second best to everything. Llanelli included Jordon Follows who was selected in the Welsh under 21 squad to play in Northern Ireland last week and we never got to grips with their front runners.

The game was effectively all over by the 23rd minute when they scored their third and they could quite easily have scored more than the six they did get. Llanelli took the lead in the sixth minute when they attacked down the left and their 11 shot from just outside the area easily beating Rory McCreesh who seemed rooted to the spot. We cleared a Llanelli corner on 8 minutes but then conceded a free kick which again we cleared but it went straight to an attacker who shot from just outside the area but straight at Rory in goal. We were awarded a free kick after 14 minutes which Remi Whitelock took but his 25 yard shot was straight at the keeper and posed no threat. We went two down on 19 minutes when the defence failed to deal with a simple through ball and Jordon Follows scored the first of his three. Again on 23 minutes we should have cleared a simple through ball but we failed and Follows made it three.

On 26 minutes it was four when Llanelli were awarded a penalty, Follows took it and hit the post but he followed up to 'score'. No one else had touched the ball so that should have been a free kick to us but the referee decided we had encroached and ordered a retake. This time he put it the same side but inside the post.

The second half continued in the same vein, Matthew Beynon did well to clear a cross to safety from almost under the crossbar but within a minute (55) it was 5-0 when they scored with a shot from the edge of the area again giving McCreesh no chance. Llanelli continued to dictate despite using their substitutes and they comfortably knocked the ball around.

On 79 minutes it was 6-0 when a left wing cross was headed in and with the game long gone we at least had two efforts in the last ten minutes. Remi Whitelock was played in behind the defence but the keeper saved his shot conceding a corner and in the final minute Damon Thomas shot over the keeper who had come out to narrow the angle but he fired wide of goal. All in all a thoroughly depressing performance on our part and it's a long way from our early season performances which promised so much.
