Afan Lido 1-2 Llanelli
Llanelli came from behind to take the three
points with a goal two minutes from time. We had taken the lead in the closing
minutes of the first half when the referee adjudged that Sam Wade was brought
down in the box. Sam picked himself up and coolly netted.
In the second half, Llanelli came out and
attacked us from the kick off but it was the Lido who went closest when Remi
Whitelock took a free kick on the half way and Sam Wade back headed it just wide
of the near post. Rory McCreesh fumbled a Llanelli free kick on the hour mark
and one of the Llanelli players knocked it over the bar when it was probably
easier to score.
Remi Whitelock then found Corey Thomas wide
right, Corey cut inside and found Luke Borrelli but his first time shot went
wide. Llanelli equalised on 71 minutes via a penalty which was given we found
out at the end of the match for hand ball. Worse was to follow as Jonathan Hood
was sent off on 77 minutes for a second yellow card. This gave Llanelli the edge
and in their next attack they should have scored but shot straight at Rory in
goal. Remi Whitelock then picked up the ball wide left 40 yards out, he cut
inside and beat several players before shooting from 25 yards, the shot hit a
defender a went away for a corner which the keeper punched clear without much
conviction.
Just as it seemed we'd hold out for a point
we went behind, Llanelli were awarded a free kick on their right hand touchline
for a handball, it seemed a harsh decision as the ball was kicked at the player
from close range. The ball was crossed in and a Llanelli player headed it
goalwards, from the opposite end of the field it looked as though Rory should
have saved it but dived late. There was insufficient time for us to put Llanelli
under any pressure before the final whistle went.
