Afan Lido 5-0 Briton Ferry
After the disappointment of
losing the League Cup when we conceded an equaliser 45 seconds
plus added on time from the full time whistle and then losing the
penalty shootout it was back to league action last night.
With nothing but pride to play
for on a bitterly cold night and a strong wind blowing towards the
clubhouse conditions weren't the easiest. Playing against the
elements in the first half Luke Borrelli headed us in front on 12
minutes. Steve Hughes should have made it two on 51 minutes but
the keeper saved his shot. 4 minutes later Luke Borrelli
netted with a left footed shot to double the lead. On 59 minutes
Damon Thomas headed in from a left wing corner and on 64 minutes
Steve Hughes went down the right, cut in and passed to Luke
Borrelli who netted to complete his hat trick.
With 8 minutes to go the Luke
Borrelli show was complete when he netted his fourth and with 5
minutes to go Corey Thomas had an effort saved by the keeper who
is now speaking with a high pitched voice! Andrew Collins
shot from 40 yards and hit the crossbar, the ball hitting the
keeper when it rebounded but he managed to get back to save it
before it went over the line. Only one game left for the 19's West
End at home next week.
