The first half wasn't much to
write home about and looked like ending all square at 0-0, but
with virtually the last kick of the half Rawlings put the home
side ahead, and straight from the kick off the ref blew for half
time.
On 67 minutes we drew level,
when sub Adam Carpenter made it 1-1. And that was how the game
ended, a good point against the league leaders with only a squad
of 13 players on the day.

In other games today Barry
Town put a dent in Aberaman's promotion hopes when ENTO lost 2-0
at Jenner Park.
Neighbours Goytre must have
thought they had the cup tie against Prestatyn in the bag, Daniel
Kingdom scored the opener for the visitors, but Dan Evans
equalised for the hosts. Ex-Carmarthen midfielder Dale Price then
gave Goytre the lead again before Danny Thomas (63') made it 3-1
for the Port Talbot-based side. The Seasiders continued to battle
though and pulled one back through a Karl Evans Own-Goal and
midfielder Mike Parker scored deep into injury-time to send it to
Extra-Time. Parker was again the hero in added time, when he
scored on 118' as Town took the lead for the first time in the
Match and they rubbed salt into Goytre's wounds with a fifth as
well.
Bridgend march trough to the
next round with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Lex 11.
Newport YMCA also progress to
the next round of the cup, as Newport won 6-5 on penalties after
the game had finished 1-1 against Holyhead Spurs.

Ianto to join
Ton Pentre |
|
We received a double striker blow
today when we lost the 2nd of our 3 recognised striker.
Ian (Ianto) Jones leaves the
club to sign for Ton Pentre tomorrow. Ianto has been with the club
on and off for many years through the youth set up and with the
first team.
Ianto has made 12 first team
league appearances for Lido this season and scored 1 goal. All the
best to Ianto for all his years of service to Afan Lido football
club, and who knows he might be back again in the future.
Ianto's departure comes on the
same day we have lost Mark (Jonah) Jones going back to Llanelli,
and Tomos (Welly) Wellington who joins Bryntirion.

Afan Lido v
Goytre round up |
|
Tonight's attendance at the
Marston of 546 (a welsh league record beating that of Goytre's 526
against Neath in 2006) That's were the good news ended for Lido,
and also our 7 match
unbeaten run.
It was Goytre who struck first
blood, after a goalless first half which saw no goals but did see
both managers sent to stand. Goytre took the lead on 70 minutes.
So instead of looking for 3 points were were now hoping to get
one. A 2nd goal did come but it went to Goytre again this time
deep into stoppage time in the 95th minute.
Tonight's win see's Goytre go
top of the table while we remain in 5th place, with a mountain to
climb for any lingering hopes of promotion this season.
Tonight's starting line up in
the Port Talbot derby was.
L Cosker - I Turner - M Waters
- R Williams - S Morgan - K Lewis - C Payne - M Chunuonsee
S McCourbrey - M Jones - A Carpenter.
Subs:
R McCreesh - I Jones - D Lancey - S Wade - C Thomas

A big month
for Lido say's Mark Robbo |
|
Afan Lido general manager Mark
Robinson has called January a “big month” for the club.
“This Friday night we play
league rivals Goytre United and we are capable of winning that to
put us in the promotion frame,” say's Mark Robbo. “If we can
come through this month unscathed then it will be massive for us.
“We want to get back into
the Welsh Premier League and if we don’t do it this season then
it will be harder next year as they are planning to reduce that
league to 10 teams.
“FAW officials are coming to
our ground this Friday to check all the criteria are in place.”
“We had a bad start to the
season but we have kicked on since then,” admitted Robinson.
“We have strengthened our squad and hope these new guys will
help with promotion this season.
“It would be nice if we are
still on track for promotion at the end of this month.”

M Jones - I Jones - Daniel Lancey - M Waters.

Afan Lido took the lead in tonight's
game on 18 minutes, when Mika Chunuonsee put Lido 1-0 up, we went
2-0 up right on the stroke of half time, but the Bulldogs could
have been back in it before our 2nd goal and could have even been
in front. They had a goal disallowed
and missed 2 open goals, luckily for Lido.
Our 2nd goal came from new
signing Dan Lancey, so both our first half goals were scored by ex
Eagles.
With no further goals in the
2nd half we won 2-0, and our 5th straight league win and 6 games
unbeaten scoring 19 goals and conceding 1. Though our stay at 3rd
in the table will only last until tea time Saturday, as ENTO
Aberaman should take all 3 points against strugglers Cwmbran Town.
Next up at the Marston in the
league is the Port Talbot derby with Goytre United on Saturday
24th January, kick off 2:00 pm.
Man of the match: Mika Chunuonsee.
Attendance: 125.
