Congrat's to our near neighbours who have won the Reserve league title, they sealed the title with a 4-0 home win over Garden Village (Liam McCreesh scoring at hat-trick).

Port still have one game remaining but can't be caught even if they lose to Ammanford away as they have a 5 point lead over Pontardawe and our self's.

Dinas Powys match summary

It was a day to remember for club top scorer, Scott notched his 3rd hat-trick of the season, and put Dinas on a home hammering by the Lido.

It took most of the first half to crack the home side, but on 42 mins we made the breakthrough, with Scott's first on 42 mins.

We doubled the lead with a goal from Mika 3 mins after the restart, on 54 mins we looked to have sealed the points with a 3rd goal scored by Scott.

We went 4-0 up on 69 mins with a goal from youngster Craig Langdon. On 85 mins Scott scored his hat-trick and Lido's 5th of the game, Dinas salvaged a consolation goal a minute later to finish off the scoring of 5-1 to the Lido.

We welcomed back defender Scott Morgan for this game, Scott has been away with Army duties, but was available for today's game.

Lido line up:
R McCreesh, C Thomas, R Williams, S Morgan, A O'Keefe, M Chunuonsee, K Reynolds, S McCourbrey, A Carpenter, S Best, L Borrelli.

Subs: J McEvoy, C Langdon, V Lewis.

Dinas Powys match preview

Dinas Powys like are not having the season they enjoyed last season. Dinas just missed out on the title last season by 2 points and finished runners up to Goytre Utd, but this season they lie in 12th position, their squad has been severely depleted by players joining Port Talbot, ENTO Aberaman and others.

They have won 5 of their 12 home games and 4 defeats, but their current form is better than ours, they have 2 wins from their last 5 games and 3 defeats, while our last 5 games has seen us collect just 3 points from 3 draws and 2 defeats, only Cwmbran Town and Caldicot have faired worse than us over the last 5 games.

Earlier in the season we had a good 4-1 win over Dinas at the Marston, we also have a 100% winning away record against Dinas since our return to the welsh league, 3 wins from the 3 games played. Dinas are looking for their 3rd home win on the trot following wins over Cwmbran and Taffs this month, while we are looking for our 4th away win of the season.

We have a long wait (3 weeks) until our penultimate game of the season away to Bridgend which is on the 9th of May.

Cardiff Corries match preview

Tonight the team travel to the capital to play Corinthians at Radyr.

Corries are back in division 1 after a few season in div 2 and were promoted last season along with Bettws and Barry Town, and those 2 teams are 1st and 3rd, it's a long time since promoted teams have done so well in their first season after gaining promotion.

Corries are currently 11th in the table, and though they are only 9 points from safety they have enough games left to secure more points, and those teams below them will find it hard to make up the points difference, so Corries will almost certainly be playing division 1 footy next season as well.

Corries have the poorest home record of any division 1 team outside of the bottom 3 clubs, with just 3 wins and a draw from from 12 home games, their away form has seen them win double that of their home wins. They have won only once in their last 8 home games, and that was a good 5-1 win over Caldicot nearly 2 weeks ago.

When they visited the Marston near xmas they came off 2nd best as we beat them 4-0 on the day. Our away form has seen us with only 3 wins this season, we've drawn 5 and lost 5. After tonight's game we still have 3 more away games left before the season's end.

The games only goal came from Matt Beynon, who scored in the first half. Cwmbran Celtic are unbeaten in their division of the youth league with 10 wins and 3 draws from their 13 games. Well done to the lads.

In the other semi-final Llanelli beat Caerau 1-0, the final will take place between Afan Lido and Llanelli in May at the Marston, Lido won the toss with Llanelli to decide which club hosts the final.

Cambrian & Clydach match preview

Afan Lido play their final home game of the 2008/09 season and Cambrian & Clydach are the visitors to the Marston.

We played them in the away fixture on the final day of March, and Cambrian came out 2-0 winners. Cambrian are having their best season in the welsh league and look destined to finish in 5th place, they are 5 points clear in 5th place and with a game in hand of 6th place Pontardawe, they could even catch 4th placed Bettws if results go their way.

Cambrian have one of the best away records in division 1, they have only lost twice in 11 games, and those defeats were against Goytre Utd and Barry Town. They have won 5 games and drawn 4. They are unbeaten in their last 3 games, while we are without a win in our last 3 games, so a very tough match ahead of us on Saturday.

A win for us could move us to 6th if Pontardawe lose at Taffs Well, and that would be quite an achievement for our young squad, who are getting some good results considering the lack of experience in the squad.

So a big turn out for our final game would give the players and extra lift in what should be a very hard game.

Lido snatch a draw at Pontardawe

Lido came away from tonight's away game at Pontardawe with a 1-1 draw. Both goals were scored right at death of both half's, Ponty took the lead on 45 mins, to go into the break 1-0 up.

Lido earned a point with Matt Beynon's first senior goal for the club, by making it 1-1 in the 90th minute. A good point for the very young squad, Lido's man of the match was 16 year old James McEvoy.

Youth's gain a point against league leaders

The youth's were away tonight against league leaders Llanelli who were on a 100% win record with 10 wins from 10 league games, but tonight our under 19's were their equal pulling off a 2-2 draw. Tonight's point moves us back into 2nd place ahead of Haverfordwest on goal difference, and having played 3 games less. Our scorers were Damon Thomas and Sam Wade. View league table

Pontardawe match preview

Wednesday night we take on Pontardawe Town at the Recreation ground with a 6:30 kick off. Ponty have leapfrogged us in the table following their 1-0 away win over Caerleon on Saturday. Ponty have 2 former Lido players in their squad this season, Dan McGrath and Steve Cox. Ponty are looking to complete a league double over us following their 3-0 win at the Marston early in the season. Ponty have a good record this season at home and have only tasted defeat twice in 12 games, and they came against ENTO Aberaman and Cambrian & Clydach both defeats were narrow 1-0 losses, they have 8 wins under their belts and 2 draws, so it is going to be a tough task for our very young squad to get anything out of this game. At one stage in our last game against YMCA we had two 16 year olds playing which all bodes well for the future. On current form Ponty are 3rd going on the last 5 games, only Barry Town and ENTO Aberaman have better records, we are 9th, we have yet to taste defeat in the fixture since we came back to the welsh league, we have won 1 and drawn 2, last season's fixture saw us come away with a 1-0 win with Carl Payne getting the games only goal. Their top scorer this season is 21 yr old striker Vince Wattleworth who has 8 league goals. So a hard game ahead of us but another chance for our young squad to gain first team experience if called upon.

C Payne, C Langdon, S McCourbrey
Plenty of early drama in Newport, after 9 minutes YMCA have a player sent off for head butting Rhys Williams. Lido awarded a penalty and Scott McCourbrey effort saved and the follow up hits the post. On 18 mins another penalty awarded, this time to YMCA and they put it away and lead 1-0. On 66 mins Lido draw level against 10 man YMCA, S McCourbrey scores for Lido 1-1. No more goals, a very young Lido team draw 1-1.

Read the Newport YMCA match preview

Saturday we play Newport YMCA at Mendalgief Road, where we are level with YM on results over the past 3 seasons. We have both won 1 game each and drawn the other. Last season we lost there in the final game of the season going down 3-0, it was their best season since returning to the top division, but this season is totally different as they languish in the relegation places 8 points from safety and with 3 more games played. Their home form is as expected for a team in last but one place very poor, with only 1 win and 1 draw and 11 defeats from their 13 games. But the last time I said a teams home form was poor and had only won 1 game, Taffs Well went and stuffed us 5-0 for their 2nd win, so hopefully history won't repeat itself. Just look at Goytre who travelled to play Croesyceiliog in midweek who were bellow YM before the game and Goytre lost 3-1, so these teams battling to stay up are dangerous. Earlier in the season when they came to the Marston we ran out easy winners 7-0, but we had a more experienced squad at that stage of the season, and still in with a shout for promotion, but since so many departures from the club our form is just mid table at best and a win at Newport will not be as easy as the won at the Marston. While Newport's league form has been poor mainly due to other clubs signing their players, they have had a good year in the welsh cup reaching the last 8, and narrowly losing out on a place in the semi's to Bridgend who beat them 1-0. They have been on better form since the January transfer window when the strengthened their squad, and are not the soft touch we beat 7-0 at the end of November, their most recent match they earned a credible point at Ton Pentre with a 1-1 draw.

Reserves deducted 6 points by the welsh league

The Reserves have been deducted 6 points by the welsh league. The Reserves have lost the points due to Seven Sisters resigning from the Reserve league, our position at the top of table remains the same as Port Talbot were also deducted 6 points for their 2 wins over 7 Sisters, the biggest gainers were Ammanford who were 7 points behind us are now only 1 point as their only game against 7 Sisters saw Ammanford lose. So Saturday's game against Ammanford is now a must win for the team, a defeat see's Ammanford climb over them into 2nd place. View revised table
