Bryntirion League Cup

Good evening and welcome to the officials, players and supporters of Bryntirion Athletic Football Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this evening’s Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup tie.

I’d also like to welcome our referee Paul Walters from Merthyr and his assistants Ian Bird and Phil Lang from Port Talbot. Our opponents are currently lying in mid table and I'm sure manager Francis Ford will get his players fired up for tonight's match.

We beat Bryntirion at home in our first league match of the season 2-0 in a game which was played in a very good spirit. Our recent improved league form continued last Saturday when we gained a comfortable 3-0 home win against Taffs Well. Corey Thomas and Darren Griffiths both scored first half goals which were set up by man of the match Mark Jones. Jonah had a very influential game on Saturday and was very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet when his second half chip eluded the keeper but hit the crossbar. Karl Lewis with a fine header from Ian Turner's free kick was our second half scorer to seal a comfortable win. Our third consecutive win and third consecutive clean sheet has elevated us up to fourth position in a league that has become very tight.

Rory McCreesh will make his first start of the season in goals tonight. A young goalkeeper who is chomping at the bit for regular first team action and I have every confidence in him and surely he will be looking to put in a polished performance tonight. Youth team winger Luke Borelli comes into the squad after impressing recently after a long term injury. Michael Waters misses the game through a one match suspension and the game has probably come a week early for former Bryntirion midfielder Mika Chunuonsee to play against his former club. Mika has been out for the last month but he should be back in contention for next week's home league game against Aberaman

 Enjoy the game,
