The kick off was delayed by half an hour to allow work on a large muddy patch
in and around one penalty area. Llansawel made the worst possible start when
they conceded a penalty in the third minute which Ian Jones calmly slotted
home. We continued to apply pressure with a series of free kicks and corners and
Karl Lewis had a header cleared off the line from one of the corners.
Just after a quarter of an hour Mark Jones tackled a defender and won the
ball made ground into the area and shot past the keeper for the second. It
should now have been plain sailing but they knocked a hopeful ball forward on 22
minutes and found Gareth Jones on the edge of the area and his shot cleared Leon
Cosker who was on the six yard line to give them a sniff of a chance. It only
lasted two minutes as again Mark Jones won the ball and in a carbon copy of his
first goal he made ground into the box and scored.
On 28 minutes it was game over, Ian Jones had a shot saved and following the
scramble that followed Llansawel were penalised for a back pass. We took the
free kick which was charged down but the assistant referee flagged to indicate
they had infringed. We took the free kick again and Corey Thomas tapped it to
Mark Jones whose shot found it's way through the body of players on the line to
register his hat trick.
Leighton Connor almost gifted us a fifth inside the first ten minutes of the
second half when he headed back to the keeper and he had to dive full length to
make the save. We made a couple of substitutions just after the hour and Luke
Borrelli received the ball wide right from Karl Lewis and he rolled the ball
invitingly across the goal for Mark Jones to tap in for his fourth. Further
chances fell to Karl Lewis, Corey Thomas and Mark Jones but we failed to
increase the score. However in added on time Mark scored his fifth to make it a
memorable day for him.
