NEATH ATHLETIC 1-2 AFAN LIDO
Match report by Peter Reynolds

A terrific win against the runaway league leaders at Llandarcy on Wednesday night.

We included Andrew Pearson who has signed on dual forms from Port Talbot.
Ian Jones should have given us an early lead when clean through but the Neath keeper saved Ian's shot.

Wyn Walters made a couple of good saves especially one where he tipped over a shot at full stretch.

We reached half time with the match goalless but Neath took the lead on 56 minutes after they were awarded a free kick.  Wyn saved the shot but unfortunately for us instead of it going over the bar for a corner it hit the bar and bounced down and was forced over the line by the incoming Carl Miller.

We equalised almost immediately when Carl Edwards had the ball wide on the right and drilled a shot into the far post from 25 yards.

Once again we had some odd decisions from the officials and needless to say with 15 minutes to go Neath were awarded a penalty. Wyn Walters guessed correctly and dived to his left to superbly save Jonathan Keaveny's shot. Spurred on by this we looked the more likely to win and with three minutes to go Karl Lewis leapt highest to a Craig Jones free kick to power home the winner. Bizarrely the referee found over 5 minutes of added time, luckily for him and us Neath failed to find an equaliser.
