AFAN LIDO 1-0 CAERLEON
Match report by Peter Reynolds

This is a difficult match on which to report as it was spoilt by some poor refereeing.

With two assessors in the stand the referee didn't relax and allow the two sides to play football.  It was stop-start virtually all the way through and certainly our players were frustrated by some odd decisions.

Ian Jones got into the box after 4 minutes but failed to connect and the opportunity was wasted. We scored the only goal after 15 minutes when Justin Williams side footed home from a left wing corner.

Right on half time from a Caerleon free kick the ball ran through to Wyn, however the referee ruled that Paul Evans had fouled in the area and awarded Caerleon a penalty. There were no protests from the visitors and it wasn't easy to see what the offence was.

From our point of view justice was done when Wyn dived to his left, made an excellent save, pushing away the kick.
The second half lasted 54 minutes, exactly where the time came from we don't know but the 'spectacle' was ruined by over fussy officials who didn't allow anything to develop.

Caerleon were given numerous free kicks but failed to take advantage. Our defence held firm and Wyn didn't have to make a serious save in the second period.

So we finish our home campaign with two wins and two clear sheets.  Let's hope for more of the same in our remaining four away matches.
