AFAN LIDO 3-0 BARRY TOWN
Match report by Peter Reynolds

At last a performance that everyone can be pleased with. From the time we scored the first goal there was only going to be one winner. The lads were hungry for success and gave their best performance since probably the win at Neath. We opened the scoring after 14 minutes when a left wing cross was headed toward goal and Ian Jones supplied the finish with a deft header giving the
keeper no chance.
Our only moment of worry in the first half was as a result of our throw in about forty yards from goal.  The throw was intercepted, played forward
leaving their striker with only Wyn to beat.  Wyn closed him down and made an excellent save from the initial effort and the recovering defence cleared
our lines.
At half time the main discussion was, would one goal be enough in view of the wind that had risen just before half time which would be in Barry's favour in the second half.  Instead within three minutes we were talking
about our second goal.  An excellent move down the left and a deep cross from Craig Martin saw Carl Edwards head home from 10 yards.  Ian Jones had a chance to kill off the game but fired straight at the keeper, Wyn made another good block in one of Barry's rare forays into our penalty area. The third goal arrived on 59 minutes and was again the result of a good left side build up. This time the cross was low and Carl Edwards arrived late and guided the ball home with his left foot. Scott Bamsey came on from the bench and gave a good account of himself and was unlucky on a couple of
occasions not to score. He also set up Karl Lewis who fired wide with only the keeper to beat.  Ian Jones hit a rocket that the keeper managed to block more by luck than judgement.
As well as Scott Bamsey, there was an encouraging debut for Thomas Edwards while Matthew Lavis had possibly his best game in the first team.
For once we looked as though we could score every time we attacked and as the saying goes, Barry were lucky to get nil.
