WELSH LEAGUE U18

  AFAN LIDO 5-0 BARRY TOWN

By Richard Barratt

Lido got back to wining ways with a good performance ,with a win over a tough committed Barry side. Lido took the lead on 15 mins after a cross/shot from Antonio F flew in 30 yards out from the left touchline. For the rest of the half the game was evenly matched, the game spoiled by petty free kicks which stopped the flow of the game Shortly after the re-start Steve H did well to ride a tackle in the area before firing into the bottom corner.

Barry continued to make a game of it but shortly after Remi came on as sub he made it 3 with 20 mins to go. The best goal of the game came from Shaun Jones who hit a shot from 25 yards which flew into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. In the final minute Josh Thomas poked home number 5 from close range. The score line suggest it was an easy game but it was a well fought victory

Next up for the team is away to Penarth next Saturday.

Sadly this will be Richards last match report for the under 18's. His son Daniel is taking a break for the moment, but hopefully he will be back in the near future.

I would like to thank Richard for taking the time and trouble to get involved and helping me give excellent coverage for the under 18's.

Richard was one of the growing band of parents who follow their kids to every match and take time out during the games to bring the coverage that several sides now enjoy.

Thanks Richard for all your help.
