Barry
Town 1-2 Afan Lido
By
Richard Barratt
The Lido took a young 13 man squad, to what looked like on paper Lido's
toughest test of the season so far and it certainly proved
that
The game was played on a tight ,uneven ground.
Lido started well,
playing some attractive football. The defences from both sides
cancelling out some good approach play. The Lido were unlucky with
several decisions but continued to play the better football and
were
rewarded on 36 mins after a Luke B cross was flicked on by Steve
for an
unmarked Remi to head home from 6 yards. Steve was unlucky not to
win a
penalty after the keeper took him out but the decision went in
favour of
Barry.
The second half started with Barry muscling forward and were
unlucky as
shots hit the post and bar but Lido continued to defend well ,Dan
B and
Matt B in particular having strong performances but on 75 mins
Barry got
an equaliser with a fine shot from a tight angel. Lido dug deep
and were
rewarded with 10 mins left when Matt B headed back across the
Barry area
for Ceri C to pounce and knock in the games winner.
The Lido had
one more
scare before the final whistle but a brilliant last ditch tackle
by
Lloyd Havard meant the Lido go into the next round.
