We played against the strong wind but had the better of the first half.
Straight from the kick off Dinas Powys attacked but we cleared the ball to
Umberto Brassiello in the centre circle, he held the ball well before
turning his defender and laying the ball for Remi Whitelock to win a corner.
Remi's cross was headed at the keeper by Matthew Beynon. Matthew Jones
made
a good run down the right, his shot was blocked but rebounded to Paul
Griffiths who shot from outside the box but straight at the keeper.
Umberto
blocked an attempted clearance the ball flew to Matthew Jones who shot from
just outside the box. Their keeper made a fine diving save at the expense
of a corner. Again Matthew Jones attacked and only a last ditch tackle
prevented him from scoring. On 12 minutes we lost the ball in the Dinas
half, they knocked it forward and their striker looked offside but the ref
didn't give it. He made ground towards our area but Gareth Couch stood
tall
and dived to knock the ball away from the attacker. Umberto made good
ground down the right but his cross was cleared but knocked back over the
defence by Paul Griffiths for Adam Beynon to lob the keeper to put us one up
on 19 minutes.
Just after the half hour Matthew Jones crossed in from the
right but the keeper gathered but under pressure from Umberto and Adam
Beynon he dropped the ball and the Dinas defence managed to clear under
pressure. On 45 minutes we cleared a Dinas free kick up to Umberto on half
way he made ground and saw the keeper off his line and lobbed him from
thirty yards. Unluckily the ball went just over the crossbar.
Straight from the kick off Remi shot at the keeper who looked decidedly
uncomfortable until he knew he'd caught the ball. On 50 minutes we were
awarded a free kick on half way for a foul on Umberto, Remi Whitelock
knocked the ball into the area and they couldn't deal with it. Matthew
Beynon was wide right in the area and brought down but Matthew Jones skied
the penalty over the crossbar.
On 54 minutes a through ball found Umberto
and he closed down on goal and was fouled outside the area by the keeper.
With the free kick begging to be taken by Remi, Adam Beynon pulled rank and
saw his effort hit the bar. Shaun Morgan was booked in an incident prior
to
the kick, both he and the Dinas 5 were pushing and shoving in the wall and
the ref decided it was time he showed his cards. 4 minutes later Adam
Beynon shouldered a Dinas attacker just outside our area. The ref gave a
free kick and Adam was booked for contesting the decision. While it was
only 1-0 the possibility was there for Dinas to equalise but Gareth Couch
wasn't forced into a save during the second half. With a quarter of an
hour
to go Adam Beynon played it wide to Matthew Jones who with players rushing
into the box decided to shoot and he knocked it wide. Within two minutes
he
contested a decision and he went into the book.
With 10 minutes to go Adam
Beynon shot across goal but wide of the far post and two minutes later we
were awarded a free kick for yet another foul on Umberto. With 5 minutes
to
go Scott Bamsey was sent off for retaliation, a Dinas central defender
appeared to stamp on him but the ref missed it but saw Scott's reaction.
Umberto made the game safe and took the sting out of the game with four
minutes to go. Tom Darlington
did well in the left back position and
knocked the ball forward to Umberto in a left wing position, the keeper
charged to the edge of his area but Umberto coolly lifted it over the keeper
one bounce into the net from 25 yards.
