The Reserves completed their
season with a 2-0 win over Cardiff Corries at the Marston's Stadium to finish in
fourth place with 23 points. Shaun Morgan played in goal as Gareth Couch was
suspended. We had an early chance when Adam Beynon turned and shot straight at
the keeper who failed to hold it and the ball rebounded to Umberto Brassiello
but he fired over the bar. Shaun Best gave us the lead after 15 minutes but
Corries came back and somehow managed to hit the post from 3 yards.
Most of our efforts seemed to
come from Shaun Best but the keeper was having a good game and kept his goal
intact. 10 minutes before the interval Matt Beynon conceded a penalty, Shaun
Morgan diving to his left made a fine save, again from the follow up a Corries
player shot over the bar. In the second half Tom Darlington played a 1-2 with
Shaun Best but again the keeper saved his shot. Shaun Best had a run on goal but
took one touch to many and was crowded out.
In the closing minutes Shaun
Best shot over the bar then Adam Beynon played a ball through for Umberto
Brassiello but again the keeper saved his shot. In added on time Shaun Best went
down the left and crossed the ball to the far post it came back in for Dan
McGrath to head in.
