Shaun Best scored
one of the quickest goals seen at the ground when he netted after 59 seconds.
He went on to score a second but missed his hat trick when the keeper saved his
penalty.
We had a free kick just outside the area, Craig Martin took it and the keeper
dived to his right to save but he failed to hold it. Shaun following in had the
simple task of netting the rebound. We went 2-0 up after 14 minutes when Ali
Walkley took a quick free kick finding Shaun Best he went down the left and
crossed to Shaun Morgan who chested the ball into the path of Tomas Wellington
whose right footed drive gave the keeper no chance. 5 minutes later it was 3-0
when Ali Walkley went down the right and his cross to the far post was headed in
by Shaun Best. We were then awarded a penalty when Shaun was fouled in the area,
disappointingly for a reserve match and the score at the time the referee sent
the Pontyclun player off. Shaun Best took the penalty, the keeper guessed
correctly and dived to his left to make the save and deny Shaun a hat trick. On
the half hour we went four up when Damon Thomas picked up a left wing throw and
crossed to the far post where the onrushing Andrew Wright met the cross to
score.
Damon Thomas then had the miss of the season, he picked up a loose ball in
midfield, went past several defenders then around the keeper and with an empty
net in front of him he managed to hit the crossbar. The ball rebounded and hit a
defender who unintentionally shot the ball into the net.
The sixth came after 75 minutes when Tomas Wellington scored from 15 yards again
with a right footed drive. With 7 minutes to go he also missed a hat trick
opportunity when he shot wide when well placed, however two minutes later Damon
Thomas got to the byeline and pulled the ball back for Tomas to score from 12
yards.
