Ton
Pentre League Prog's edition
Good
afternoon and welcome to the officials, players and supporters of
Ton Pentre Football Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this
afternoon’s MacWhirter Welsh League Division One match.
We
also welcome today's referee Eddie King and his assistants Phil
Owen and Gareth Dowdeswell to the Marston’s Stadium for the
game. Our opponents
are currently in second position and are enjoying another
successful season. Ton Pentre set the benchmark every season for
others to follow and their manager Kevin Richards has once again
assembled a very strong squad of players capable of winning the
league.
After
3 weeks without a game we will need to be at our very best to get
something out of today's game. Since the excellent away victory at Clydach & Cambrian
which our young team performed admirably, I have since brought Dai
Rees on board as my assistant.
Dai brings a wealth of knowledge with him and his
experience will be invaluable.
His character has already rubbed off with the players and
with Mark Robinson on board with us; hopefully we can gain the success the club strives for.
On
the transfer market we have secured the services of Goytre wideman
Michael Waters. I
went back to my old club to sign Michael whom I rate as the best
wideman in the league. Ian Jones has returned to the club from
Haverfordwest and once again I'm delighted to have Ian back at the
club having scored 42 goals for the club last season. Goalkeeper
Leon Cosker has signed from Ton Pentre so I'm sure he will be
looking forward to today's game and finally Steve Cox has signed
from the Swansea league. Steve
is a no nonsense central defender who has always impressed me when
he played for Pontardawe Town.
players will be making their first starts of the
season with three of them making their club debuts. My signings haven't stopped there hopefully, with the
possibility of two further signings and combine these new players
with what we already have, then I'm sure we can start climbing the
table
Enjoy
the game
