Taff's Well League Prog's edition

Good evening and welcome to the officials, players and supporters of Taffs Well Football Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this evening’s MacWhirter Welsh League Division One match.

We also welcome tonight's referee Phil Watts and his assistants Clive Hewitt and David Powell to the Marston’s Stadium for the game.

Our opponents are in a mid table position and they claimed a 3-3 home draw with Croesyceiliog last Saturday. Since my last report we had a creditable 2-1 home win against Pontardawe and a good 3-0 away win at Pontypridd. Against Pontardawe Shaun Best opened the scoring after 5 minutes with our opponents drawing level midway through the half. A brilliant penalty save on the stroke of half time by Leon Cosker kept the scoreline level at the interval. In the second half we upped the tempo and deservedly got the winner from striker Ian Jones. A well taken free kick was flighted in by Dan Williams and Ianto met it with a firm header giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Last Saturday we travelled to Pontypridd and after a goalless first half we stepped up a gear and gained a comfortable win. Michael Waters scored our first goal with a shot from the edge of the penalty box and then the introduction of Kieran Howells and Corey Thomas enabled us to gain a stranglehold on the game. Further goals from Ian Jones & Michael Waters set us up for a comfortable victory. The youngsters at the club are certainly been given their chances with Corey Thomas, Damon Thomas and Shaun Morgan all figuring at Pontypridd, also Luke Borrelli and Rory McCreesh having been on the bench during recent matches. These youngsters deserve their chance and if they continue to impress in training and games then I'm sure they will have a very bright future at the club.

Last week's win elevated us up to eighth position and another win tonight hopefully will see us climb another place. I feel we are heading in the right direction especially after our second half blip against Aberaman, since that game the players have responded very positively.

Enjoy the game
