What
A welcome 3 points! The Maesteg Park game again proved to be a
frustrating one, however the outcome was a positive one this time.
Chances were again created early on in a number of situations but
not for the first time this season poor finishing and
decision-making were to blame for us not taking the lead, then
against the run of play we went behind with some poor defending
helping their cause. Not for the first time this season the lads
responded well and got on level terms before the break, good build
up play involving a number of players led to Kieran scoring
against his former club with a well taken goal.
The
second half proved to be an open game with both sides wasting good
chances, however I felt we were finishing the game the stronger
and once Craig Martin got us in front with a great far post header
we should have put the game out of their reach but once again made
hard work of it. The 3 points were the priority that night and
vital. It showed again the squad is very important and good enough
to get results even with quality players not available.
Although
no game last weekend I believe it was a great result off the
field! I was busy in discussions with someone I wanted to come in
and manage the first team. Upon hearing his ambitions and knowing
his experience and him personally it left me in no doubt that he
was the right man to take the club forward. On Sunday evening we
both met with the chairman who was also very impressed with what
he heard and was delighted to appoint CRAIG DUGGAN as our new
first team manager. I am sure you will join me in welcoming Craig
back to the club where he achieved so much success as a player, he
has spoken to the players this week and has already got a good
relationship with them and relishes the challenge in front of him.
As
for myself I will resume the General Managers role but as
requested by Craig be working with him and helping in the coaching
and training department. I am looking forward to working with
Craig as are the players and with your continued support hopefully
see the club move forward and upwards again.
Enjoy
the game
