Good evening and
welcome to the officials, players and supporters of Bryntirion
Athletic Football Club to the Marston’s Stadium for this evening’s
MacWhirter Welsh League Division One match which has been brought
forward from Saturday. We’d also like to welcome the three
officials and we hope you enjoy the game.
Our opponents are
currently in fourth position in the league and had an excellent
11-1 victory last week. Francis Ford has assembled a team this
season that can push for honours in all competitions, therefore we
need to be
at our very best to get something out of the game.
Since our 1-0
defeat to Goytre United I have brought in Dai Rees as my
assistant. With the wealth of knowledge and experience he brings
to the club, I'm sure we can start climbing the table. He's also
one of the games
great characters; therefore I'm delighted to be working alongside
him again.
We went into
Saturday's away match at Clydach and Cambrian without Carl Evans,
Dan Williams and Andrew Pearson who were unavailable, Carl Edwards
and Chris Latham were suspended and Paul Evans who has hung up his
boots after a very long & distinguished career. Nevertheless
the youngsters who came in acquitted themselves superbly and it
enabled us to return home with a 3-1 victory.
Two goals from
the impressive Steve Davies and one from substitute Nathan Hodgson
sealed our first away win of the season, after falling behind to
an early goal. The players worked their socks off and it was a
real team effort to gain the win with eight teenagers in the squad
of 14 and in the second half four youth team players took the
field.
I'm delighted to
have signed Michael Waters from my previous club Goytre United.
Michael was an integral part of their success over the last few
seasons and I'm sure he will kick on and play a major part in what
we are
trying to achieve at Afan Lido.
Enjoy
the game
