This must be a disappointing result for Craig Duggan in his first match in charge. The only goal of the game came 14 minutes from time when Luke Bowen went down just outside the box to earn the free kick from which Ian Turner scored.  We then had Carl Edwards sent off for a second yellow card when yet another free kick was given against us and he kicked the ball away in frustration. Goytre produced the first attack of the game but Craig Martin cut out the cross and knocked the ball in to touch.  From the throw the ball was played back in and Carl Edwards conceded a corner which we cleared.  Both sides a free kicks around the half way mark as they battled for supremacy but nothing came from any of them.  

On 11 minutes Paul Evans played the ball wide left to Karl Lewis who made ground before crossing.  His cross was cut out and the ball hit forward for to chase, Richard with time and space and only Scants to beat failed to find the target from 15 yards. Scants then threw the ball out only for it to be intercepted by a Goytre player but he saved the incoming shot despite it taking a nasty bobble. On 21 minutes we had another free kick which Carl Evans headed on to Paul Evans but his first time shot was straight at Curtis in goal.  Minutes later another free kick was cleared but went to Karl Lewis but again his shot found the keeper. 10 minutes before half time after yet another free kick for us the ball was cleared but played back into the box, Chris Latham challenged for the ball and despite having a cut head for his troubles he also went into the ref's notebook.  Right on half time we had our best chance of the half when from our umpteenth free kick of the half Dan Williams found Paul Evans, he headed on into the path of Chris Latham but his header flashed just wide. 

The second half started with Chris Latham shooting straight at Curtis in goal, the ball went down to our end but they shot wide.  Andrew Pearson and Chris Latham combined well but once again the move broke down around the penalty area.  Steve Davies pick up the ball in midfield and beat a couple of players but his shot was blocked.  Around the hour mark the defence had a poor spell, there seemed to be some uncertainty there but Goytre failed to take advantage.  We broke clear and had yet another free kick, just why Goytre at this point had only 1 yellow card only the ref knows, but Dan Williams took the free kick, slipped it to Carl Edwards but his cross was just ahead of Chris Latham and went through to the keeper.  Goytre were know getting stronger winning the ball in midfield but so far they weren't making the best use of it.  Steve Davies and Chris Latham combined but they lost the ball in midfield, Steve Conaty picked it up got into the box but Scants saved his shot diving to his left.  It was now looking as if one goal would be enough and Goytre had a series of free kicks, most we cleared but Luke Bowen went down under an innocuous challenge and won a free kick 22 yards out just to the left of our goal.  Scants lined up the ball but the free kick went over the wall and into the top corner with Scants guarding the other side of goal.  Worse was to follow when Carl Edwards kicked the ball away and had a second yellow and left us with 10 men. 

Carl Payne and Corey Thomas then replaced Kieran Howells and Chris Latham we ended the game with for a change a number of free kicks.  Unfortunately we weren't able to capitalise on them although following one Paul Evans went to head the ball but a Goytre player in trying to head clear caught Paul flush in the face. Surprisingly the ref although he saw it didn't award us a penalty but decided that it was a momentum challenge.  The final whistle sounded to the delight of the Goytre support, it just shows what it means for some clubs to beat the Lido!
