We started with 5 youth players, Rory McCreesh made his first appearance of the season as Leon Cosker was late arriving, Steve Parry was unavailable so Justin Williams returned to the side. Another youth player, Carl Payne came off the bench to net the winner with 9 minutes to go. It was Carl's first first team goal. 

This was yet another difficult game with Pontardawe up to try and upset us to win the spoils. We had an early free kick for a foul on Corey Thomas, Dan Williams knocked it into the box but Steve Cox was then penalised for a foul. Pontardawe were then awarded a free kick and went wide right a shot came in but went wide of the far post. We had a right wing corner, Michael Waters cross was met by Shaun Morgan but he headed over the bar. 

On the 10 minute mark we were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, Michael Waters took it but it didn't have much pace on it and was easy for the keeper. Steve Cox won a header and knocked it down to Michael Waters, he crossed to Corey Thomas but he was leaning back and the shot was always going over the bar. Following a free kick we won a corner, Steve Davies whipped it in at pace but no-one got a touch and it went out for a goal kick. The half was littered with free kicks as it seemed Pontardawe's way to try and handle us. Just before half time yet another free kick was played by Dan Williams to Justin Williams who made ground to the byeline and crossed, Shaun Morgan met the cross but again headed over the bar. We ended the half with a free kick on the edge of the box which Steve Davies took but it was cleared. 

The last action saw us win yet another corner, Michael Waters took it and it was headed behind for a second corner. Steve Davies took this but the Pontardawe defence stayed firm and the ball was cleared. Rory McCreesh was called into action in the first minutes of the second half when he confidently tipped over a dangerous cross to concede a corner. The free kick count was easily into double figures and from another for a foul on Michael Waters the ball was played wide right to Karl Roberts but his cross sailed harmlessly over the crossbar but at least there were signs that we were getting on top. Shaun Morgan came off injured after 56 minutes, Steve Cox went back into defence with Shaun Best going up front. 

Just after the hour Pontardawe had a free kick which they pumped into the box, Rory McCreesh came out to gather and also had two Pontardawe players for his troubles. Surprisingly this time there was no free kick. With twenty minutes to go following a free kick for a foul on Karl Roberts Steve Davies made ground and shot from outside the box but it sailed over the crossbar. With 15 minutes to go Carl Payne replaced Damon Thomas and 6 minutes later we scored. Corey Thomas found Shaun Best inside our half he made ground and played the ball inside the full back for Carl Payne to run on to. The keeper closed Carl down but he calmly passed the ball past the keeper and into the net from just inside the area. 

With 5 minutes to go Leon Cosker went on to replace Rory McCreesh who had done all that was asked of him. We kept the ball well in the closing minutes but there was still time for Steve Davies to try his luck with a free kick from 30 yards which the keeper did well to hold just under the bar. In the third minute of added on time we were awarded a free kick in the centre circle which we knocked wide and kept the ball in the Pontardawe danger area until the ref blew for full time.
