| For
half an hour this looked a potential disaster as we failed to
score with
the Garw keeper playing a blinder making several superb saves and
if he
missed it the post came to his aid. It had all the
makings of Garw breaking
away and scoring but when our first came it was an error by the defence
that presented Mark Jones with the opportunity.
As expected we took the initiative and Steve Davies had a shot
charged down,
it rebounded to Craig Martin 30 yards out, he made ground and his
shot was
deflected for a corner. The corner was played to Craig
and he fed Mark
Jones who turned and shot but Tom Chorley in the visitor's goal
made the
first of many outstanding saves.
On 8 minutes Garw
broke down the left but
their 11 Arfon Morris dragged his shot wide of Wyn's left post. We
had
several shots from Mark Jones, Andrew Pearson and Tom Wellington
all were
straight at the keeper then on 16 minutes a right wing cross found
Andrew
Pearson 5 yards out but somehow he managed to hit the crossbar.
It
continued to be us against the Garw keeper and continued to keep
us at bay,
on 25 minutes after yet another corner a Carl Evans header was
cleared off
the line at the expense of a corner. It was swung in
and Mark Jones hit the
post, it was beginning to look as if we wouldn't score! On
the half hour
another Garw break saw Wyn off his line and clearing with his
feet.
The
ball went the other end and Steve Davies had a shot saved at full
length by
the keeper, however from this the breakthrough came. At
last there was a
mix up in the defence leaving Mark Jones to tap in from a couple
of yards.
Garw kicked off and lost possession, we found Mark who powered
into the
area, went around the keeper and shot but a defender got back to
clear for
yet another corner. We netted our second on 42 minutes
when Mark Jones laid
the ball into Andrew Pearson's path, he powered into the area and
hit a
powerful right footer into the far corner for his first of the
season.
Almost immediately Tom Wellington had the ball on the edge of the
area,
turned and fired into the net. There was still time for
Carl Edwards to hit
a left footer from 12 yards to make it four goals in 13 minutes.
On 50 minutes we went five up when Andrew Pearson picked up the
ball thirty
five yards out and beat several players in a mazy dribble, drew
the keeper
and slid the ball past him. On 58 minutes we had a free
kick on the left,
it was played in to Mark Jones who turned and shot past the keeper
to make
it six. Corey Thomas then netted his first senior goal
when he volleyed in
from 8 yards following a left wing cross.
After 71
minutes Damon Thomas
netted his first senior goal when he played the ball to Tom
Wellington who
found Mark Jones and he returned it to Damon who had now entered
the area.
He took the ball around the keeper and sidefooted into the empty
net. Four
minutes later Corey made it 9 when he got on the end of a Steve
Parry cross
to net at the far post. Mark Jones then made it 10 on
81 minutes and
rounded off the scoring on 88 minutes with his fourth and our
eleventh.
