Cambrian & Clydach 1-3 Afan Lido

We came from behind to defeat Cambrian 3-1 with one of the youngest sides we've put on the field in some time.  Dan Williams, Carl Evans and Andy Pearson pulled out of the squad while Carl Edwards and Chris Latham were suspended. We went behind after 6 minutes when we lost the ball 40 yards out and their 8 strode forward before shooting from 35 yards just inside the post.

The lads responded well and we took the game to Cambrian and Shaun Best was unlucky not to beat their keeper to a long clearance from Wyn.  Just on the quarter hour Wyn held a Cambrian shot and threw the ball to Steve Davies, he powered down the wing beating several defenders but his diagonal ball to Shaun Best was just cut out.  Corey Thomas picked up a loose pass from the home defence and fed Shaun Best, he found Aaron Keefe who crossed for Steve Davies but he shot over the bar from 10 yards.

On 29 minutes Cambrian took a quick free kick but Wyn was alert and made an excellent save to keep it to one, we picked the ball up and several players were involved in a left wing attack before we fed Shaun Best who got into the box before being fouled. The referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty which Steve Davies fired home for his first league goal of the season.  We were taking the game to Cambrian and a Steve Davies cross was just cut out with Corey Thomas waiting in the area.

We had to replace Karl Lewis with Nathan Hodgson at half time  and we switched to 4 4 2, Nathan made an explosive debut scoring in 6 minutes of his arrival.  Steve Davies crossed to Corey Thomas who fed Shaun Best, his shot hit the crossbar and fell kindly to Nathan who scored from 8 yards with a first time shot.  We conceded a couple of needless free kicks to put us under pressure but as a team we looked confident.  Steve Davies on the right was our outlet and his speed was causing them major problems  and it came as no surprise that he increased our lead with 16 minutes remaining when he sped down the right and beat the keeper at the near post by sheer power.  We had a couple of scares but generally looked sound in the back and Steve almost had a hat trick but this time the keeper made a good save conceding a corner.
