Afan Lido Rangers 2-0 Corus

The Rangers, playing in their first game since December 9th, took on probably one of the best teams in Port Talbot when they played hosts to visitors Corus.

These games are always closely contested and Saturday proved no different.  In the first 10 minutes the Rangers played like a team who hadn’t taken to the pitch in a month and let Corus take control.  Corus should have taken the lead when they hit the post in the first couple of minutes with keeper Aaron Davies diving bravely to save the rebound after it fell to an oncoming Corus player.  Slowly the Rangers started to gel and with the defence of Charlie Purchase, Tomos Wheadon & Jake Howe giving nothing away they deservedly took the lead through Ethan Robinson who headed in at the far post from an in swinging Harri Cain-Thomas corner.

With the midfield dominating, with Jared Price in superb form ably assisted by Joshua Thomas and Matthew Morgan, they extended their lead soon after a long spell of attacking play when again a dangerous Harri Cain-Thomas corner was tapped in at the far post by Aaron Goff.  They could have extended their lead but only an inspired performance from the Corus keeper kept them at bay with Jordan Noakes going close on several occasions.

They held out through a nervous last couple of minutes to run out 2 – 0 winners. Every member of the team deserves a mention as each played their part, all contributing to a hard won but well deserved victory.

Man of the match was awarded to Harri Cain-Thomas.
