AFAN LIDO 1-1 SWANSEA
By
Alan Howells
A very good
competitive game, played at a furious pace, in front of quite a
large crowd.
Ex Lido players
Casey Thomas, David Kingdom and Thomas Wellington were on view for
Swansea Youth
Swansea scored at
about 30 mins from a free kick from their left back.
Constant pressure
in the second half saw Afan Lido equalise in the final minutes from
Damon Thomas, after connecting with a Luke Evans cross.
Lido were unlucky
not to score 5 minutes earlier, when a thunderous free kick from
Remi Whitelock from 35 yards smashed into the crossbar, but unlike
the Geoff Hurst incident in the World Cup Final, we did not have a
Russian linesman to signal that the ball had crossed the goal line.
Overall it was a
very entertaining game, played by two very competitive teams.
Lido Youth are now
starting to take shape, with the good squad of players now
available.
Best wishes go
to the Swansea Goalkeeper and Swansea Centre Half who had to both
had to attend hospital from accidental collisions. We hope they are
back playing very soon.
