Port Talbot 1-3 Afan Lido

We went in at half time 2-0 up and looking comfortable. I don't know what they put in the half time tea but most of our players spent the second half in the changing rooms and we nearly conceded two points.

We could have been one up in the first minute. Craig Jones in his first game for 5 weeks took a corner and Carl Edwards crossed in back in but no-one got a touch and the chance went begging. On 11 minutes Carl Edwards hit the crossbar bounced down but unfortunately the ball stayed out. Two minutes a corner was headed out to Shaun Galsworthy and his thirty yard drive went just wide. However on 19 minutes we took the lead, a Port Talbot defender knocked a backpass straight to Mitch Patton who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in. Straight from the kick off another Galsworthy special was brilliantly save by Gareth Couch. Craig Jones made ground on the right and crossed for Chris Latham but again Couch just got a touch to knock the ball for a throw. On 26 minutes Mitch again found space and time, made progress into the box to make it 2-0. Yet again Couch kept the score down with a good save from Galsworthy.

In the second half we couldn't put any passes together and it was one of the worst halves of football I've seen in some time. Despite our inability to find each other Port Talbot just used a long ball down the middle which in the main was easy for us. On 70 minutes Port Talbot did pull a goal back and we at least started keeping possession better, we should have scored a couple but kept taking the wrong option but with the last kicks of the game Karl Roberts pumped a free kick down the middle, Remi Whitlock gave chase and won the ball to score, they kicked off and the final whistle went. Next up is Maesteg Park next Friday night.
