A pleasing
result and performance after last week's cup defeat. Justin
Williams made a first appearance after his leg injury. We lost
Josh Cockings on 17 minutes, he was replaced by Tom Edwards.
Four minutes later Shaun Best had a great chance to give us the
lead with a one on one with the keeper but the keeper saved his
shot.
A minute later
he hit the bar but he finally found the net four minutes later.
It followed a series of three corners, the third was half
cleared to Shaun 25 yards out. He hit it through a crowd of
players to give us a deserved lead which we kept to half time.
Neil Hendra
doubled the lead 35 seconds into the second half when he drilled
the ball past the onrushing keeper.
A great move
involving Ali Walkley, Neil Hendra and Mitch Patton saw Mitch in
space but he drove his shot over the bar.
On 67 minutes
the same three players were again involved only this time it was
Mitch who teed up Neil and from eight yards he rarely
misses.
On 76 minutes
Neil netted his third when some slack defending saw him receive
the ball thirty yards out and he shot into an empty net. A
minute later Ali Walkley hit the crossbar and then came the only
sour note for us.
Warren Taylor
who had gone on as a sub was sent off for 'having words at the
referee'. The incident also lead indirectly to Ponty's only goal
as we had actually cleared the ball before it was pulled back
for a free kick. Jay Evans in goal made a fine save at the
expense of a corner and from the corner Ponty scored.
In added on
time he also made another fine save to ensure we only conceded
the one goal.
