We
must have set a record in this game for the number of times we
were caught offside. Morriston's continual use of this tactic
meant our chances were few and far between and contributed to a
stop-start affair.
This was a much changed Morriston side to the one we've played
in the past.
Morriston
started the better but we took the lead after 13 minutes with
our first meaningful attack. Corey Thomas competed with their
keeper to get to a loose ball, Corey just got there first,
dinked it over the keeper then fired into the empty net. Corey
then fed Chris Latham who with the keeper off his line lobbed
him but the ball just cleared the crossbar. On 35 minutes Matt
Lavis took a short free kick to Craig Jones, his long cross was
met just beyond the far post by Ali Walkley but his header found
the side netting.
On 51 minutes
Craig Jones beat the offside trap and we won a corner. Craig
took the corner and found Shaun Best, he found Justin Williams
who was felled in the area. Mitch Patton calmly slotted home the
penalty to give us a cushion. On 63 minutes a Shaun Best cross
was headed over by Chris Latham and on 66 minutes Shaun went
down the right, squared the ball for Craig Jones who had kept
behind him and Craig slotted the ball home. The goal was ruled
out by the ref who decided (incorrectly) that Craig was in front
of the ball.
In the latter
stages Morriston pushed forward looking to reduce the arrears
but Josh Cokeley in goal didn't make a save.
