| The
reserves came out on top at a windswept Marston's Stadium
against neighbours Briton Ferry. In a match generally spoilt by
the wind we took the lead on 21 minutes. A Remi Whitelock corner
was fumbled by the Ferry keeper, the ball hit the crossbar and
Aaron Keefe bundled the ball home.
There were few
chances in a largely lacklustre first half. One disappointment
was that Carl Edwards suffered a hamstring injury after just 8
minutes and was replaced by Carl Payne.
In the second
half we created better chances and on minutes Carl Payne with
only the keeper to beat blazed over the bar. To make it worse,
within a minute the Ferry equalised. To be fair to Carl, nine
minutes later in exactly the same situation a one on one with
the keeper he kept his cool and shot to the keeper's left. He
saved Carl's effort but only succeeded in guiding it into Neil
Hendra's path for Neil to slot home our second.
On 68 minutes
Carl made it 3-1 when he received the ball in midfield, drew the
keeper and slotted the ball past him for a coolly taken goal.
The Ferry
pushed forward and twice the ball went across our area without
anyone getting a touch and then minutes from time Gareth
Scantlebury made an excellent save to his left.
