| A
goal in each half from Chris Latham secured the three points on
a bitterly cold night at Briton Ferry.
We almost took
the lead on 5 minutes when Carl Edwards played the ball wide to
Ali Walkley, his cross just eluded Chris Latham in front of
goal. Matt Lavis also found Ali and his through ball found
Neil Hendra in a good position but he
was adjudged offside. On 18 minutes Chris Latham brought
the best out of the Ferry keeper with a left footed drive from
just outside the box which was turned away for a corner.
On 34 minutes
Neil Hendra was pulled back in the penalty area but both the
referee and the linesman failed to see the offence.
On 38 minutes
Carl Edwards crossed to Neil Hendra whose close range effort was
blocked by the keeper, the ball rebounded to Neil and again the
keeper got in a block, Sean Galsworthy miscued the next effort
but it went straight to Mitch Patton but his close range effort
was straight at the keeper. Two minutes later we took the
lead, Sean Galsworthy played a through ball to Chris Latham
who took the ball around the keeper and sidefooted home.
On 47 minutes
Neil Hendra got around the back of the defence and squared the
ball for Chris Latham but a rush of blood on his part saw his
shot sail harmlessly over the bar. Two minutes later the
Ferry were level when Karl Roberts was
adjudged to have handled the ball just inside the area and the
resultant penalty was converted with ease.
Chris Latham
was at the heart of most of our best chances and on 53 minutes
he almost regained the lead but his effort went wide. Steve
Hughes who was a first half substitute for Mitch Patton then
drilled in a shot from 25 yards and once again the
Ferry keeper was equal to it.
We finally
regained the lead on 73 minutes when Chris Latham had a one on
one with the keeper and scored (with his left foot).
Despite several
late scares and five minutes of added on time we held on to
secure the three
points.
