Boyz take on Llanelli Friday night

The first team squad had their first training session Tuesday night since the season's close, and 28 turned up for training.

Friday night the squad travel to Bryngwyn School, Felinfoel to take on Llanelli (behind closed doors) in a bid to help Llanelli prepare for their Euro campaign.

The Dynamic Duo will be taking 18 players for the game (no names yet) but quite a few new faces turned out Tuesday night, so the make up of the 18 will make interesting viewing.

Details of the game to follow.

Website down time this weekend

The website will be down from sometime Saturday afternoon for approx 12-24 hours while I switch over the domain to point to the servers of the new web host I have recently purchased.

It takes that amount of time for ISP's worldwide to pick up the change to the new hosts servers.

Sorry for the inconvenience all should be back to normal for everyone hopefully late Sunday, as Sat & Sun are usually the sites quietest days for visitors hence the changeover at this time.

THE DYNAMIC DUO ARE BACK AT THE HELM

Hollowing a 7pm meeting tonight at the clubhouse, I have been informed by text message that the Dynamic Duo have reconsidered their decisions to quit as join managers of Afan Lido, and the club are delighted to have them back at the helm.

The two lads held long talk together yesterday, and a meeting was called for tonight, where the good news has now filtered through that they are both back in the driving seat.

I'm sure all Lido fanz will be delighted by tonight's news.

Record month for May

May was quite a month for the club on the field, and also a record month for the website.

In May we broke the 20,000 visits for a month totalling 20,887 an average of 674 a day.

We also saw a new daily record at the time of the cup final against Carmarthen when 1,397 visits were recorded, a good month considering the season had finished half way through May.

Phil & Evs resign as Gaffers

The dynamic duo Evs and Phil

It is with great regret and disappointment that Afan Lido Football Club have to announce the resignations of their first team 'Coaches' Phillip Holmes and Paul Evans with immediate effect.

Afan Lido Football Club would like to sincerely thank both Phil and Paul for their services to the 'Club' and  wish them every success with their future commitments.

Both players came through the Lido youth system and in the first year of the League of Wales, (both as teenagers) with Paul made 7 appearances and Phil with 5. In total Paul Evans has made 390 league appearances for the Lido and scored 25 league goals, and Phil has notched 152 league appearances and scoring 6 goals.

Last season was a hugely successful one for the duo taking the club to new heights in reaching the welsh cup final for the first time in the clubs history narrowingly losing out to Carmarthen, but they did lift silverware by winning the welsh league cup beating Goytre Utd 1-0.

I would personally like to thank both lads for all the time and help both put in to helping me with the club website, it was an experience I have never been accustomed to with previous sites with managers or players, and was hugely appreciated by me, cheers lads for everything.
