Our Ladies team
suffered a heavy defeat to 3rd placed UWIC yesterday.
Things didn't go
well even before they left for Cardiff. The team left with only 10 players due
to illness to players, and minus coach Phil Robbo who had to stay behind to
run the bar.
Not the kind of
pre-match troubles the team needed against high flying UWIC, who having lost
their league opener against Swansea have rattled off 3 victories conceding
just 1 goal and scoring 9.
UWIC took full
advantage of the extra player and ran in 4 goals in the first half, and it
could have been more only for our keeper Sam Chambers pulling off a string of
fine saves.
Our defenders
came out for the 2nd half with heads down, except for newcomer Jodie Mogford,
and UWIC ran in another 5 second half goals.
The Lido
midfield did not give in and battled on, and they got their reward with a fine
40 yard goal from Steph Cook, her shot flew over the head on the unsuspecting
UWIC keeper to make the score 9-1.
