AFAN LIDO 2-3 NEWPORT CITY

Following a heavy defeat to the swans last week, this game was going to be a test of character for the Lido.

The first ten minutes was dominated by the visitors but then Lido found their rhythm and were the better team for a 20 minute spell and took the lead through a well struck shot from Kirsty Pratt, after 30 mins. Lidos dominance continued through to half time and the first half finished 1–0 Lido.

Lido struggled to cope with the skill and pace of Newport no 9 Lindsey Morgan and this showed when she scored 2 quick goals in the 1st 5 mins of the 2nd half.

The game was pretty even until the 70th minute when Aimee Bowditch scored a fantastic goal from outside the area, after a lovely well directed pass from the intelligent Steph Cook.

A few injuries to both centre backs Nerys Lloyd and Haley Williams unsettled the Lido team in the last quarter of the game and they were very unlucky to go behind in the 82nd minute with a goal from the impressive Lindsey Morgan to complete her hat trick.

The last chance of the game fell to Stacey Harris of Lido who was unlucky to have not been able to get her shot away, Tina Ellis had the rebound shot saved by the keeper. Lido deserved a draw in this game but their heads will be held high going into their next match on 1st October Vs Bridgend away.
