BARRY TOWN 0-4 AFAN LIDO
Match report by Peter Reynolds

Welsh cup 2nd round.

We progressed to Round three of the FAW Welsh cup with a comfortable win at Jenner Park.

Apart from the opening quarter of an hour, it was a case of getting the job done and putting away our chances.

Once we'd got over their opening spell, we settled down and played some excellent football but we couldn't finish off what we were creating.

An example was Ian Jones shooting wide from five yards after 28 minutes. Chances also fell to John Felton and Shaun O'Leary before Ian finally broke the deadlock on 38 minutes.

Liam fed him and he drew the keeper who actually made a block on the shot but it had enough pace on it to beat the keeper and lob up under the crossbar, John Felton followed it in but didn't get a touch.

Within 2 minutes Karl Lewis doubled the lead with a power drive from thirty yards that beat the keeper and hit the inside of the post before settling in the net.

Shaun O'Leary almost made it three before half time but lost his footing at the vital moment.  However within seven minutes of the restart a through ball from Liam found Ian whose fierce drive was just touched by the keeper onto the crossbar and the ball fell kindly for John Felton to head home.

We then played some terrific football against a tiring defence, Craig Jones hit the crossbar on 76 minutes but within a minute Liam set up the fourth which Matt Lavis side footed home for his first goal at this level.

Brian Thomas had been a virtual spectator but he was called on twice in the final ten minutes, the first an easy save, the second, he tipped over a fierce shot from Barry 10 Zak Misbah to keep the clean sheet.
