report by Peter Reynolds
We lost last
night for the first time since August 19th. We were one up
at half time and looked good for another three points.
Ton Pentre
couldn't string two passes together and we controlled the first
half. For some reason the reverse was the case in
the second half.
Ian Jones and
Justin Williams were both unfit after Saturday so John Felton and
Daniel Williams came in
to the side.
We took the lead
on 6 minutes when Liam McCreesh got free on the right, drew the
keeper and crossed for Chris Latham to head into the empty
net.
On 14 minutes
Steve Parry took a corner which was flicked on to Chris Latham and
his header was cleared off the line.
On 17 minutes
John Felton won the ball on the by-line, crossed to Craig Jones
but his effort went over the crossbar.
On 20 minutes
Craig won the ball 25 yards out and chipped the keeper but
unfortunately it went just wide.
On 25 minutes
another Steve Parry corner and again a Chris Latham header was
cleared off the line, the rebound fell to Craig Jones and his shot
was again blocked on the line.
We continued to
have the better of the half and on 42 minutes a Paul Evans goal bound
special was blocked by a defender. Half time came with us
one up but well in the ascendancy.
Ton came out with
all guns blazing in the second half and Steve Parry cleared a 47th
minute corner off the line. That set the tone for the second half
and for the first 10 minutes we were under pressure.
In a rare attack,
Craig Jones tried his luck from 25 yards but the ball sailed over
the bar.
Ton should have
equalised on 67 minutes when Craig Martin miskicked 35 yards out
and with Brian closing down the forward his effort went just wide.
On 71 minutes the
inevitable equaliser came, incidentally the first goal we've
conceded away this season.
Ton got to the by-line
down our right and crossed low for Dwayne Mardenborough to score
at the near post. Three minutes later Craig Jones had
another effort but straight at the keeper and on 80 minutes we
went behind, a right wing corner was headed on to Ryan Jenkins who
headed in from 6 yards.
Phil Holmes and
Corey Thomas went on with 5 minutes to go and right on time Corey
shot from the edge of the area only for the Ton keeper to save
diving to his left. Although we lost the performance,
especially in the first half deserved better.
