We should
have been out of sight by half time but failed to take our
chances.
At least Ian Jones has broken his barren spell so hopefully
he'll now start bagging the goals again.
We had all the early pressure with the Taff keeper saving
well on several occasions. As early as the ninth
minute a through ball found Chris Latham racing into the
area but the keeper dived at his feet to block
Chris's shot. A minute later Ianto was played into
the area and only a last ditch tackle saved the home
side from going behind. Chris Latham then played
Ianto in again and again the keeper just got to the ball
first. After 24 minutes we 'scored' but the ref
disallowed it, I felt it should have been a goal but some of
our
more generous supporters felt the ref was correct.
Once again the ball was played into the box and their
keeper flew out and punched the ball clear but after
punching it he collided with Ianto. There was no foul just
a coming together (as they say), the keeper stayed on the
floor and the ball went to Karl Lewis 40 yards out
and he fired the ball into the net.. When the ref
realised the ball was going into the net he blew and gave Taffs
a free kick, there was no foul so as far as I was concerned
it was a goal. We then had a quiet period but on 36
minutes a move involving Craig Jones, Matt Lavis and Ianto
so him fire straight at the keeper when well placed.
On 44 minutes Taffs finally worked Brian when they took a
free kick from 35 yards and struck it well only for
Brian to dive full length and turn the ball for a corner.
Taffs started the second half better but 10 minutes in a
move involving Craig Jones and Matt Lavis saw yet
another Ianto shot turned away for a corner which Greg took
and Karl Lewis head over the bar. On 68 minutes
we went behind when their wing back fired home from the
edge of the area giving Brian no chance. We were
only behind for 6 minutes, a Craig Martin free kick was
headed on by Justin Williams and Ianto fired home
from inside the six yard box. Coming into the last 5
minutes Taffs started to pressure us and from another long
range free kick Brian tipped over for a corner. We
came back and Karl Lewis beat several defenders fed Ianto
who passed to Craig Jones, he fed Karl Lewis but his effort
from the edge of the area went wide. In the last
minute of normal time a Karl Lewis cross was met by Craig
Jones and his goalbound header was saved at
full stretch by the Taffs keeper.
