report by Peter Reynolds
We had a comfortable win at Leckwith today
against a poor Grange Quins side. It was a job well done but in
all honesty we should have scored more.
As early as the fifth minute Ian Jones beat the
offside trap, rounded the keeper but with John Felton in support Ian
chose to shoot and it was blocked on the line by a defender.
We took the lead after 21 minutes when a left
wing cross eluded everyone and was picked up beyond the far post by
Greg Hurley. Greg cut inside a defender and sent a low drive
between the keeper and his near post from 15 yards.
From the kick off Ian was through on goal but
lobbed the ball over the crossbar. Minutes later it was John Felton
who beat the trap but he shot straight at the keeper.
The inevitable second goal came on 31 minutes
when Liam McCreesh played in John Felton who drew the keeper and
dinked it over him.
The second half continued in the same vein,
John Felton 'scored' with a long range effort only for an earlier
offside decision to rule it out.
Substitute Craig Jones scored the third out of
nothing. Their defender lost control of the ball just outside the
box and Craig took it forward a couple of yards and netted from just
outside the area.
Quins hit the crossbar in added on time, but
Scants didn't make a save in the game.
