We had the better of the early exchanges and as early as the sixth minute a cross from John Felton after a great run down the wing was cleared from under the bar at the expense of a corner. Steve Parry took the corner and Paul Evans got in a shot which was again turned for a corner. 

On 17 minutes we took the lead, we were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, Craig Jones took it and beat the wall and his shot had too much pace for the keeper who could only help the ball into the net. Two minutes later it was 2-0 when Craig again took a free kick from about 40 yards out, it sailed over everyone and Paul Evans met it with a powerful header from 4 yards giving the keeper no chance. Ponty tried to force their way back into the game but their leading scorer, Chris Summers was well shackled. 

On 26 minutes they reduced the arrears, they had a free kick wide left about 30 yards out. A great delivery saw centre back Mike Jones get a faint touch to flick the ball past Brian. 3 minutes later a great ball from Steve Parry into the box fell between Liam and John Felton with neither able to claim it and the ball ran out for a goal kick. 

On 38 minutes Liam appeared to be pulled back by the last defender, the ref reached for his back pocket and produced a yellow card for Liam for handball when everyone else expected a red for the defender. Given that bit of luck Ponty had a huge stroke just before half time, they played the ball in from the right, Paul Evans in heading it clear headed it against Geza Hajgato and the ball screamed into the net from 15 yards giving Brian no chance.

We again took the game to Ponty without creating any clear cut chances, we had a series of corners but couldn't convert anything. On 70 minutes Karl Lewis tried to shield the ball out for a goal kick but lost the ball, luckily the cross was headed over for a goal kick. With 13 minutes to go Liam played a great ball to the overlapping Craig Jones but his first time cross was headed over from a good position by Ian Jones. On 81 minutes Ponty sub Tom Billing had the ball in the box but was forced wide. Somehow he lost his marker and scored from an acute angle. Four minutes from time, a Craig Jones corner was met by Karl Lewis but his header was straight at the keeper. Two minutes from time Steve Parry had a header blocked but we retained possession and played Chris Latham in and from around the penalty spot he made no mistake. We still had time for Craig Jones to feed Ian Jones but his first time shot sailed over the bar from 8 yards out.
