report by Peter Reynolds
The scoreline just
about sums up today's game. There were very few chances and not a
lot of football. In one of our early attacks Craig Jones let fly
but straight at the keeper.
After 5 minutes
Paul Evans battled well and won us a corner which was cleared. Dan
Williams then cut out a Maesteg cross that looked as though it may
cause us problems then on 12 minutes we suffered the miss of the
match, a professional player would probably have nightmares after
it, but in our case it went to the returning Piper. He was played
in by a defender's poor touch but despite having time managed to
hit Scants in goal and the ball went for a fruitless corner.
Maesteg had a free
kick on 25 minutes that went just wide, Brian was on his 6 yard
line and could have been embarrassed had the kick been on target.
Our only other chance of the half again fell to Piper who received
a pass from Paul Evans and forced a fine save from Scants in the
Maesteg goal.
In the second half
we played with the breeze but other than a fine run down the left
wing by Steve Parry who gained 50 yards and a corner after 50
minutes and a combined move between Greg Hurley, Paul Evans, Craig
Jones who fed Ian Jones who shot just wide from the edge of the
area there really wasn't anything in our performance to get
excited about.
This game had 0-0
written all over it from an early stage. Hopefully come Tuesday in
Taffs Well we'll get back to our play from earlier in the season.
