| Match
report by Peter Reynolds
This was a practice match ahead
of Llanelli's European match next week. We included a number of trialists
one of them who scored in the fourth minute to give us the lead.
Craig Jones was proving elusive on the right and a couple of times
he cut in but Llanelli usually crowded him out before he could
shoot. We almost went two up after 23 minutes when a Chris Piper
shot hit a defender and lobbed over the keeper but hit the
crossbar and away for a corner that was cleared. Having had a half
time roasting Llanelli came up with more purpose in the second
half and Craig Martin under extreme pressure did well to head a
corner clear.
However on 51 minutes we gave the
ball away just outside the area and despite our keeper making an
excellent save he couldn't save the follow up. On 57 minutes our
keeper cleared the ball and despite having several defenders
around him our triallist striker got his shot on target from 25
yards which forced the Llanelli keeper into a diving save. On the
hour mark we made a couple of substitutions, Matt Lavis, Karl
Roberts and Damon Thomas joining the action. On 69 minutes
Llanelli went 2-1 up when a right wing cross was met on the volley
by their number 9 giving our keeper no chance.
Remi Whitelock then replaced
Chris Piper and he made ground before passing to Craig Jones whose
25 yard effort went wide. Corey Thomas and Carl Payne were also
introduced but within minutes Matt Lavis conceded a penalty,
expertly saved by the keeper. With four minutes to go Llanelli and
their 9 got the third, again they travelled down our left, the
cross went beyond the far post and was knocked back in for their 9
to score.
All in all some good performances
from our lads as we've only had one training session. The scores
were level until we made a number of substitutions and gave the
younger players a run out.
The following played Carl Edwards
Dan Williams Justin Williams Craig Martin Matt Lavis Craig Jones
Karl Roberts Damon Thomas Chris Piper Corey Thomas Remi Whitelock
Carl Payne plus a couple of ''trialists'' who once they've signed
I think will please our supporters.
