report by Peter Reynolds
Our
nine match winning run was ended but we still claimed a point and
kept a clean sheet.
Ian Jones failed a fitness test so Corey Thomas made his first
start in the Welsh league while Carl Payne who played for the
under 19's on Tuesday made a first appearance on the bench.
The best chance of the game fell to Craig Jones inside the first
minute. Craig was inside the six yard box and met a left wing
cross but the Bryntirion keeper made an instinctive save to keep
the ball out.
Both sides tended to cancel each other out and there was a comment
after the game by some neutrals that they enjoyed the game but it
needed more goalmouth action. That sums it up, neither keeper was
really tested and our players seemed somewhat shot-shy.
Several
good positions were achieved but the final shot was offloaded to
someone else to try their luck.
On 67 minutes we made a double substitution, Phil Holmes replacing
Carl Evans and Carl Payne replacing Corey Thomas. The one pleasing
aspect of the game was Carl's performance, he made a promising
debut, wasn't overawed and was actively involved.
The last twenty five minutes were played in a deluge which made
control and passing more difficult and I think ultimately both
sides would have been happy with a point.
