BRYNTIRION 3-0 AFAN LIDO
Match report by Peter Reynolds

We failed to get to grips with both the elements and a side that wanted to beat the cup finalists.
The players need to learn quickly that we are now the target due to our cup success and they need    to put in the necessary performances every game.
We totally failed to use the elements, Bryntirion played with a strong wind and shot whenever they    had a sight of goal.  In the second half we had two shots, one by Karl Lewis which was on target         and the keeper held, the second a free kick from Ian Jones with 5 minutes to go that went wide.

We should in fact have taken the lead inside 30 seconds.  We kicked off and Karl Lewis beat a          couple of players and set up Carl Edwards but from a good position he dragged his shot wide.  We found control of the ball difficult playing into the wind, balls being played high were being held up in the wind.

Bryntirion should have taken the lead after 12 minutes but from a long free kick their 7 headed over from a good position. Brian Thomas produced a good save on 15 minutes from a long range shot.  A poor pass from Carl Evans played us into trouble but with difficulty we cleared for a corner which we cleared but the ball came back in and they forced a second corner. They floated the ball high on the wind and let the elements take control, the ball hung under our crossbar and their 9 knocked the ball in at the second attempt.  At the back we continued to play ourselves into trouble and they had another effort just wide.

On 26 minutes we allowed them to break through 3 or 4 attempted tackles for their 9 to toe poke the ball in from the edge of the area.  Somehow we got to half time without conceding any more goals and with the wind at our backs hopefully we'd turn this around.

Within the first couple of minutes of the second half we had a couple of free kicks but nothing came of either.  A poor back pass by Daniel Williams almost saw us three down.  His back pass to Brian was too short and was picked up by their 9 who went around Brian but Craig Martin got back and cleared off the line at the expense of a corner.

Our first meaningful shot came after 55 minutes when Karl Lewis tried his luck from 30 yards which the keeper held. Watching this game became more and more frustrating as we weren't appreciating the conditions, we were trying to play through the midfield and in little groups, we hadn't learnt from their performance in the first half. An example of this was when we eventually forced a corner, they had scored by knocking the ball in and letting the wind hold the ball up, we sent ours into the near post at speed, they cleared it away.

5 minutes from time we had a free kick in the middle of goal 20 yards out but Ian Jones unlike Sunday blasted the ball well wide.  They scored a third two minutes from time when again our defence failed to handle the situation, Brian made a good save to stop the initial shot but the follow up saw the ball bundled into the net, the one forward triumphing over our three defenders which summed up our night.
