BARRY TOWN 0-7 AFAN LIDO
Match report by Peter Reynolds

A fifth goal for Ian Jones with 2 minutes to go created a club record score at Jenner Park. Our previous best was 6-0 at Abergavenny in the first year of the league of Wales and improves on our 7-1 home win over Porthcawl in the Welsh league.

Ian opened the scoring on 12 minutes, he won the ball 35 yards out and fed the overlapping Steve Parry who got to the bye line and crossed low for Ian to fire home from 4 yards. 3 minutes later Craig Jones won the ball in a midfield position and fed the unmarked Ianto who drew the keeper and side footed home.

His third came on 25 minutes when some sloppy defending saw him receive the ball wide right, he ran into the box and drilled the ball past the keeper. On 28 minutes Shaun O'Leary scored directly from a corner, his well placed cross was helped in by some poor keeping. In added on time both Carl Evans and Craig Martin had headers saved while Ianto looking for his fourth had a lob well saved by the keeper.

After a quiet opening to the second half, Chris Latham replaced Matt Lavis on 57 minutes and 2 minutes later opened his senior scoring account for the club. Chris had played Ianto in, he delayed his shot and the keeper did well to block it but Chris followed up and fired home the fifth. It was now a case of home many we'd score and if we'd prevent them from scoring.

On 72 minutes a great diagonal ball from Chris Latham found Craig Jones, he slipped the ball to Liam McCreesh who fed Ianto for number 6. Steve Parry fired in a terrific shot from the edge of the area following a corner and their keeper made an outstanding save but with 2 minutes to go, a sweeping six man move ended with Ianto creating the new record.
